Is it normal to have small cracks appear in my Alexander Rose Sorrento furniture over time?

Yes this is completely normal - cracks occur naturally in timber as it absorbs moisture and expands. These cracks will have no impact on the durability of your furniture. If you can fit a 10p coin into the crack, this may be a manufacturing fault.

Why has my wooden furniture developed black spotting?

Black spotting will be the result of surface fungi developing due to damp conditions. This will not affect the durability of your furniture. With teak furniture, you can allow it all to weather to a silvery grey over 4-5 months. Or, you can choose to treat the spotted areas with Dettol. For better results follow up with a light sanding of the furniture, which will restore the furniture to its original colour.
