We have added the Outback range of barbecues to our portfolio of the best quality gas, charcoal and wood pellet grills. The Hybrid range combines the ease and speed of gas with the authentic BBQ taste of charcoal, including a charcoal basket to hold the re-cycled coconut shell Outback briquettes. A multi-cook grate is included with the Hybrid range, allowing you to expand your grilling repertoire to include pizza with the pizza stone, eggs, prawns, delicate fillets of fish on the griddle or a delicious stir fry in the wok. These top-of-the-range grills have porcelain-coated grills, which are easy to clean and quick to release your BBQ fare. The integrated temperature gauge allows you to cook a ‘low ‘n’ slow’ or a juicy quick steak perfectly. No one wants to spend hours cleaning the BBQ after a party, so Outback has developed the easy clean drip tray and stainless-steel burners. The side burner on some models allows you to cook a delicious pepper sauce to accompany your steak or creamy custard to serve with a home-made fruit crumble. The integrated warming rack makes hosting a party much easier as you can hold your long cooks while quickly cooking the steaks, salmon or burgers. We only stock the very best brands of grill, such as Weber, Traeger and Kamado, so if you’re not sure which grill is for you, why not pop into the store and talk to the experts in The Barbecue Shop, open all year round?

FAQ

Ian Hodgett. Ian is a passionate barbecuer and owns several grills from the various companies. He stars in the videos on the Hayes Youtube channel
alongside top BBQ chef Richard Holden. If you need answers to your BBQ questions or just some tips for easy delicious recipes then The Barbecue Shop in store is the place to head to. He also organises the many hands-on BBQ courses held here in store.

What size BBQ do I need?

The size of your barbecue depends on the amount of people that you will be cooking for. If you are regularly using your BBQ to entertain, then one of the Traeger wood pellet grills or a gas Weber Genesis with 6 burners will enable you to cook for a large party or just immediate family. If you just want the BBQ for yourself rather than entertaining then one of our smaller Weber gas or charcoal BBQs would be big enough.

How should I look after my BBQ?

Maintenance of our BBQs is fairly standard across all of our ranges. They will all need the grates scrubbing with a wire brush after every cook. We also recommend carrying out a thorough clean once a year with all parts removed and cleaned with a dedicated BBQ cleaner or replaced if worn. At Hayes, we offer a Webber certified service on all of their products where we will pick up your BBQ, give it a service and replace any worn parts if necessary before returning it back to you in pristine condition.

What barbecue accessories are essential?

You will need long handled tools to prevent you getting burned; 2 sets of tongs and spatula, one set for raw food and another set for cooked to avoid cross-contamination. A wire grill brush is essential as you need to brush down the grill after every cook. Digital thermometers enable you to cook your food to perfection, so you can say goodbye to undercooked burgers, salmonella chicken and tough overdone steaks. A pair of thermally insulated BBQ gloves are absolutely essential if you are using cast iron accessories, vegetable baskets, kebabs or rotisserie.

Are the Outback barbecues suitable for a beginner?

Yes they are very easy to operate and are quick to come to temperature. If you want to improve your grilling skills why not enrol on one of our BBQ courses. There is a course aimed at every level of experience. Not only will you learn how to control the temperature of your grill and what to cook on the different heat zones but you will also learn some new recipes and of course get to eat the results. Keep an eye on the Events page for this years forthcoming courses.

Is there anyone who can help me choose the correct BBQ for my situation?
Yes, the staff in The Barbecue Shop here in store are all passionate about barbecue and will be able to advise on your choice of grill, what accessories you need and they can even suggest some recipes.
