Richard Holden Shows How Much BBQ Food Fits Onto The Traeger Wood Pellet Pro 22 Grill.

The huge capacity of the Traeger grill will easily cater for 8 - 12 people

Following on from the video by, top BBQ chef, Richard Holden and Ian Hodgett from the Hayes Garden World Barbecue Shop explaining how the Traeger Wood Pellet Grill Pro Series 22 works; we have produced a short video showing just how much BBQ food you can fit onto the grill. The food we have chosen is typical British BBQ fare.

There is 572 sq ins of grate with the capacity to hold a huge amount of food which would easily cater for a party of 8 - 12. We easily accommodated 6 large burgers, 8 large thick free-range sausages, 10 lamb kebabs and 4 whole chicken breasts all locally sourced from Stuart Higginsons award winning butchers at Grange over Sands. To complement this meat feast we also added 4 corn cobs and we were left with enough space to allow for the hot smoke to circulate.

The bottom grate measures 22" x 19” and the upper grate 22" x 7”. The food was all put onto the grill at the same time and was ready more or less at the same time; the chicken breasts taking just a few minutes longer as we had to make sure they reached the safe temperature of 75C. The sausages were cooked perfectly all the way through; they didn’t shrink and the outside wasn’t burned to a crisp. The smoking left a lovely coating around the food; but no caramelisation, as the Traeger only gives you the typical BBQ charring on the low and slow cooking. This can be seen in the video showing you how to cook a Shoulder of Lamb with Mint Sauce.

These Traegers are an excellent choice if you are a fan of low and slow cooked large joints of meat as you can fill the hopper, insert the temperature probes, set the temperature and go to bed knowing that the grill will just carry on cooking without any need for your imput.
