How To Restore Synthetic Rattan Garden Furniture

Good quality synthetic rattan garden furniture needs no restoration

Good quality synthetic rattan garden furniture should not need any restoration work as it is resistant to moulds; the dye runs all through the material so scratches will not show and the weave is strong enough to avoid any breaks. The only thing you need to do is give it a clean at the end of the season before covering it for the winter.

Cheaper furniture however could be subject to the material fading in the sun and the poorer quality weave snapping if left out in a severe winter. If the furniture fades unfortunately there is nothing which can be done other than to keep it out of strong sunlight. If it scratches the best way to disguise the scratch is to just colour with a felt tipped pen. You can heat the weave with a hair dryer and buff out the scratch with a soft cloth but you will be left with a lighter coloured patch.

If parts of the weave become snapped repair with epoxy resin sculpted to resemble the surrounding weave.
