A couple of cucumber plants will supply you with fresh veg all summer
You will need:
- cucumber plants
- Growmore
- trowel
We are planting our cucumbers directly into a bed but they can be grown in large pots using good quality peat-free multi-purpose compost. You can also use the bottomless tomato pots in your beds to increase the amount of space available for root formation.
Fork a couple of handfuls of Growmore into the soil before planting.
Plant securely about 45cm (18”) apart.
Water; keep them damp at all times as if they dry out the fruits will be dry and woody.
Keep the vents and door open in warm weather when they are flowering to ensure pollination and a good airflow to discourage any fungal infections.
