How To Cook Barbecue Beans On The Weber 57Cm MasterTouch BBQ

The ideal winter warmer to accompany your burgers, ribs and brisket

This really easy recipe for smokey, spicy Barbecue Beans is the ideal accompaniment to your burgers. It doesn’t involve soaking beans for days or lots of different spices and herbs. Coleslaw and potato salad are great for those lovely summer nights but when the weather is cooler you need a satisfying winter warmer. Top UK BBQ chef Richard Holden and Ian Hodgett from The Barbecue Shop here in store demonstrate in this video just how quick and easy it is to prepare and cook on the MasterTouch charcoal barbecue.

 Ingredients

  • 3 large cans Heinz baked beans
  • 2 peaches, diced
  • 3 peppers, diced
  • Angus & Oink ‘The General’ rub
  • American mustard

Combine all the ingredients in a Weber Large Foil Drip Pan; if you have a Weber BBQ with GBS (Gourmet Barbecue System) you can use the Dutch Oven instead. Heat the barbecue to about 250C (482F) and set it up for indirect cooking with the char baskets at either side of the barbecue. Using the Weber Chimney Starter to light the briquettes will cut down on the time it takes to get the BBQ up to temperature. Soak a handful of Weber Pecan Chips in water for 30 minutes beforehand then add them to the fuel in the char baskets.

Place the tray of beans over the indirect heat area in the centre of the grate, close the lid and cook until the peppers have softened, about 45 - 60 minutes. The smoke will only be absorbed at the surface so after about 30 minutes give it a stir to allow the smoke to permeate throughout the dish.

BBQ beans for burgers, ribs and brisket

If you want to elevate this dish into something more substantial you can always add some diced left-over meat; just temperature check the meat with an Instant Read Thermometer to make sure it reaches the safe zone of 75C (167F) or above. This bean dish also makes a great accompaniment for the brisket and ribs.
