Buyers guide to metal garden chairs

When buying metal garden chairs, there are several factors to consider to ensure you choose the best ones that suit your needs and preferences. First of all set your budget, but bear in mind that when it comes to garden furniture you get what you pay for and the budget options will not be as robust or last as long as the pricier options. Aluminium, steel, iron and wrought iron are all materials which can form your garden chair and they all have their pros and cons as regards to weight, manoeuvrability, style and maintenance required. So be sure you assess all these features and determine what are your priorities. The style of your outdoor space could determine the material your garden chair is constructed from; aluminium tends to be more contemporary whereas the wrought iron usually suits a more classic garden. All the Hayes garden furniture is fully weatherproof so you can leave it out all year round, however some protection in winter will ensure your furniture will look pristine for longer. A comfortable garden chair is essential so make sure your chosen design has sufficient lumbar support and that the seat is wide enough, if possible call into the store and try out the various styles. Please bear in mind the store does not carry the same amount of stock as the internet so we strongly recommend that you call first if there is a particular style you want to try. Make sure that your garden chair is the right size for the space and it can fit through the access to your back garden. If space is limited there are folding chairs available. Maintenance of your chair varies according to the material. Aluminium requires the least maintenance, just a brush down and wipe over with warm water in spring but wrought iron will need re-painting every few years as once it becomes chipped it will start to rust. If you are likely to increase the amount of chairs or need a table in the future make sure that there are no plans to cease production of that range in the near future. All the garden furniture from Hayes Garden World carries warranty against defective construction or materials. It is not covered for damage incurred in adverse weather conditions. We strongly recommend that you secure the furniture if strong winds are forecast as flying furniture could cause considerable damage to property and persons. If you need any advice please contact our Customer Services team via the Contact Us page or pop into store and talk to the Furniture Team staff.

FAQ

Keith Laird, Retail Director

Can the metal garden chairs be left out in winter?
Yes, all our garden furniture is completely weatherproof and can be left outdoors all year round, however we do recommend that you cover the chair in winter in order to keep it looking as good as new for as long as possible.
Are the garden chairs guaranteed?

Yes, all our garden furniture is guaranteed, very often with an extended period over the standard manufacturers warranty. This warranty covers any defects in the materials and the manufacture of the chairs. It does not cover any damage incurred as a result of adverse weather conditions. We recommend that you secure your chair or place under cover if strong winds are forecast to prevent any damage to persons and property.
