HTA Members

Hayes Garden World is proud to be members of the Horticultural Trade Association (HTA). The HTA is one of the largest trade associations in the Uk and has been established for just over 100 years and has a almost 1600 businesses with a turnover of over of £5 Billion a year. Their roll is vital in guiding the industry collectively towards best practices, we consider them a very credible source when it comes to following recommendations for improving our environmental impact. The HTA works very close with many agencies, associations and groups such as:

  • DEFRA - Soil Strategy for England
  • Peat Partnership Project - DEFRA
  • The Association of Professional Landscapers
  • The Growing Media Association - Information on growing media

This allows them to consolidate research and make recommendations to us and the industry as a whole, ensuring we are always aware of ways that we can improve our services and reduce any negative impact that we have on the environment.

Angela Slater

Daughter of a farmer and market gardener so have always had a connection with the outdoors, whether it was keeping animals or producing fruit, vegetables and cut flowers. Along with my work at Hayes Garden World I also have a smallholding, mainly breeding rare breed pigs. I gained an HND and BSc in Conservation and Environmental Land Management, as a result I am an ardent environmentalist and have a keen interest in environmentally friendly gardening. In my time at Hayes I worked for several years in the Outdoor Plant and Houseplant areas.
