Teak garden furniture buyers guide

If you are considering buying teak garden furniture make sure it is correct for your outdoor space. Have you looked at other alternatives such as resin weave or aluminium? Teak can be maintained with a specific treatment every 3 - 4 years to maintain it's original colour. If you don't want to maintain the wood it will weather to a soft silvery grey over the years. Occasionally small cracks will appear in the wood, this is completely natural if you are leaving it untreated it is just the wood drying out. If the teak garden furniture is sited in a shady position it will be prone to algal growth so this will need to be removed at regular intervals. All our teak is sourced from sustainably managed forests so you can buy with confidence that that you are not doing excessive harm to the environment. The teak garden sets don't usually come with cushions so bear in mind you will need to provide some upholstery to give you a level of comfort. What is Teak?

Teak is a hardwood tree from South East Asia. It has a naturally high oil content, which makes it both stable and resistant to rotting - the perfect timber for outdoor furniture.

Over time, teak will naturally weather from golden brown to a silver-grey colour. Fine cracks may appear in Teak due to changes in temperature and humidity but this is not to be worried about.

Can Barlow Tyrie garden furniture be left outside all year round?

Yes, all Barlow Tyrie garden furniture can be left uncovered outdoors all year round. However we do sell a range of covers which you may choose to use, if you choose to use a protective cover, it should be a material that allows the furniture to breath.

If you are purchasing Barlow Tyrie garden cushions, these have a water repellent finish but should not be left outside in heavy rain.

When is the best time to buy garden furniture?

Buying furniture during the garden furniture sale can be a really great time to do so. Many of the sale lines are stock that we can no longer get hold of and so have to reduce to clear. This means it is the same great furniture we always sell but at a very attractive price point. Garden furniture can be an important investment and we always advise to buy the best you can afford so it lasts as long as possible. The garden furniture sale helps you do this at a fraction of the original cost.
