Rattan Garden Furniture Covers

Over the last few years Rattan Weave Modular Sets have become popular within the garden. When investing in new rattan furniture we highly recommend that you use a rattan garden furniture cover to protect the weave from the winter elements and to give longevity to the set. A furniture cover also has room to allow you to keep your cushions underneath and allowing them to maintain good condition. Hayes recommend you read their useful article on protecting your rattan furniture through the winter months. Oxford, Bramblecrest and Alexander Rose offer a fantastic selection on good quality covers; all waterproof, windproof and breathable. Don't forget the resin weave furniture is ideal for your conservatory especially if it is unheated as it doesn't go mouldy. If you need any help or advice on buying new furniture or covers please call the sales team who will be able to make the correct choice for your budget and situation. Delivery is free to the UK mainland on all orders over £50.

Ian Hodgett
Furniture and Barbecue Buyer
Ian has worked for Hayes since leaving school, spending the majority of this time in the outdoor furniture department and like Keith has an in-depth knowledge of Hayes customers. He also has the same ethos at heart when buying garden furniture; will it be an acceptable price and quality? He also takes into account the changing fashions and environmental considerations, such as using recycled materials, being recyclable at the end of its life and is the timber sourced from forests which have a re-planting policy. Ian’s other passion is barbecuing which resulted in Hayes having one of the few Weber Worlds within The Barbecue Shop here in store. The Barbecue Shop has gained a reputation as being one of the best places in north west England to obtain all your BBQ requisites as it stocks everything you need apart from the food. Some of our best sellers are the Angus & Oink and Traeger rubs and sauces which can elevate your food from the ordinary to the absolutely divine. Ian regularly posts on Instagram the results of his grilling labours and it’s not just the usual barbecue fare of bangers and burgers. If you head to the Hayes Garden World Youtube channel you can view almost 200 videos Ian has appeared in with top BBQ chef Richard Holden. These videos show you that there is no limit to the creative dishes you can cook on your BBQ, whether it’s fuelled by gas, charcoal, electric or wood pellets. Almost all the dishes are simple and well within the capabilities of any barbecuer, they range from the Christmas dinner to puddings to vegetarian dishes.

Although all the rattan garden furniture sold by Hayes is fully weatherproof and can be kept outdoors all year round, if you want to keep it looking as new it does need to be kept covered in winter and in adverse weather conditions.
Covering your rattan garden furniture over winter prevents dust and grit particles becoming embedded in the weave. Garden furniture covers also protect against bird droppings.
No, unfortunately some of the rattan weave garden furniture does not have a dedicated cover. If you find that your piece of furniture does not have a matching cover measure the furniture carefully and check for something of the same measurements. If you are struggling to find something to fit just call our Customer Services team who will be able to find something appropriate, the number is at the top of the website.

Buyers guide to rattan garden furniture covers. A cover for your rattan weave garden furniture protects the piece from adverse weather conditions, dust, mildew and the suns UV rays. Although the garden furniture sold by Hayes is fully weatherproof and can be left outdoors all year round. Covering them over the winter ensures they remain in an ‘as new’ condition as long as possible. All the maintenance you have to do in spring is brush the furniture down with a soft brush to remove any grit particles embedded in the weave and maybe give it a wipe down with a coft cloth and warm water.

The first consideration is to make sure you know the size of the rattan garden furniture as many of the covers are specific to particular styles of garden furniture. Some of our rattan weave garden furniture pieces have dedicated covers, if you are struggling to find one the correct size just call our Customer Services team on the number at the top of the website and they will be able to find you a cover to fit. Just make sure you have all the measurements to hand.

Make sure the cover you are considering is breathable, if there is not a good airflow around the rattan garden furniture there is a tendency for mildew and other moulds to grow. Although they will not affect the function of the furniture they  can be difficult to remove and are unsightly. If the material from which the cover is constructed if fully waterproof make sure it has mesh panels or some other means of allowing the air to circulate. Make sure the covers shed water and that it is not allowed to pool as that is when it will seep through the cover. Place a bucket on the sofa seat or table top underneath the cover to allow water to run straight off, make sure the covers are pulled as tight as possible. The cover must have some means by which you can fasten it securely around the bottom of the furniture, if it’s not secure you run the risk of losing it in strong winds. If strong winds are forecast secure all the garden furniture pieces together to prevent the lighter chairs from flying around the garden where they could cause damage to people and property.

Buying a cover from a reputable brand could be more cost effective than a cheaper alternative, it will use more robust fabric, be better constructed and, in most cases, will come with some warranty. The fabric is also more likely to be UV resistant, making it resistant to fading.
