The display is still being assembled but we will keep you updated through this blog.
Well it’s that time of year again, summer’s over, autumn is underway and our shopfloor is undergoing it’s Christmas transformation with bigger and better displays than ever before - if that’s possible! We have sourced a new supplier of artificial Christmas trees for you, the quality is just as fantastic as our previous supplier but we have been able to keep the price more in line with our customers budgets. The new Bosk trees are available on our website for home delivery, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to come into store and wonder at the displays and maybe have a spot of lunch or one of our famous scones and a coffee.
This year the frosted and snowy artificial trees are going to be as strong as ever and Bosk have a fantastic selection. Their Arden tree is very slim so if you thought you didn’t have the space for a Christmas tree take a look at this beauty, as it is so slim it doesn’t cost a fortune to decorate. The frosted and snowy trees can take a huge number of different colour schemes, many more than you would think at first glance. Click here to read the blog giving you ideas on how to decorate these fantastic trees. Just because the snowy trees are in vogue it doesn’t mean that the traditionalists are left out, the Rivington Fir is perfect if you love the look of a real forest tree.
Most of the new Bosk trees come pre-lit with long life LEDs giving you lots more time to enjoy the company of family and friends rather than sorting out the rats nest of lights left from the previous year. If you love to personalise your tree with your own lights then there are plenty of options of non-lit trees, why not add your own lights to a pre-lit tree for a truly spectacular show. The lights on our pre-lit trees are estimated to last approximately 50,000 hours which is a massive 208 years running them for 8 hours a day over 30 days. The Bosk trees carry the same 5 year warranty as usual, this covers faulty components and workmanship.
Click here to watch how to put lights onto the tree for the best effect (without getting into a mess!). If you are putting your own lights onto the tree we recommend a minimum of 100 bulbs per foot of tree, so a 7ft tree would need 700 lights. If you have children in the house make sure you use LEDs as they are cool to the touch and as a bonus they only cost a couple of pounds to run over the whole of the festive period.
If you want your tree to already be pre-lit and pre-decorated we have the White House Berry Fibre Optic tree. This is the ultimate time-saver, just take out of the box, slot the tree into the base, plug in, turn on and tweak out the branches. (pictured above)
We have a huge selection of Christmas lights to brighten up your home; indoor, outdoor, novelty and children’s lights plus lighted ornaments and pictures. You’re sure to find something to lighten every aspect of your home. Use the lighted snow globe ornaments to provide a comforting glow in a child’s bedroom. Wind a garland and a string of lights around the stair bannister or go for the easy option and buy a pre-lit decorated garland. Choose the battery powered options so you don’t have potentially dangerous wires trailing across walkways. Wind the garland around the spindles not the handrail, if someone does fall they have something solid to grab and steady themselves.
Pre-lit decorated garlands are an easy way to decorate your Christmas dinner table or mantlepiece. Click here to learn how to decorate your mantlepiece. If you love the whole process of decorating the table click here to watch Yvonne make a stunning table runner. If you have a round table place a pre-lit decorated wreath in the centre and stand 3 chunky candles of differing heights in the centre, remember to stand them on a candle plate if you intend to light them.
We also have a selection of Christmas foods to give as gifts or just to give yourself a little treat over the festive period. If you have cheese lovers, wine afficionados or sweet toothed grans in your family we are sure to have some stocking fillers. Our Houseplant department is home to the fresh poinsettias, make sure you don’t place them in a draught or besides a direct heat source when you get them home; ideally they like to be in a slightly warm spot out of direct light.
Ice Castle Arctic Wonderland; Tree: frosted. Colours: white, crystal, bright turquoise, ice blue, frost, navy blue, natural
Our festive wonderland starts as soon as you come into the store from the north entrance where you are met with an Arctic landscape which truly dazzles. There is plenty of inspiration for decorating everything in your home, the tree, mantlepiece, hallway, pictures, around the door, an uninspiring corner, in the hearth, children’s bedrooms and every other nook you think deserves a bit of brilliance. This colour palette is perfect for our snowy and frosted artificial trees. For a different look with this colour scheme add some natural and woodland decorations or florals. These can practically cost nothing if you go around the garden or take a stroll in the woods, don’t forget you can only pick up fallen branches so please don’t go around lopping branches off trees. If you are on a budget this Christmas you can save a lot of money by making your own decorations; click here for tips on how you can have fun with the kids and save money.
White Woodland Scandi Chic; Tree: snowy. Colours: white, pale and dark sage green, natural cream and beige, brown, antique gold
This cool classic theme perfectly suits the frosted and flocked trees and what’s more you can go foraging for natural items to eke out the more expensive baubles. Natural soft greens and wood fit into this theme perfectly. Click here to read the blog giving you tips on how to achieve this look. The mossy sage greens in this palette give it a softer vibe than the cold blues of the Arctic Wonderland theme.
Santa's Breakfast; Tree: frosted. Colours: red, white, copper, bright green, wood
The classic Gingerbread theme can be as sophisticated or childlike as you prefer. Add some gingerbread decorations to the traditional red and white. This year the twist is adding copper to tone in with the gingerbread men or just add the copper to the red and white for a chic colour theme. We have used a frosted tree but this theme stands out beautifully on the classic green Christmas tree.
Hobbit House Winter Forest; Colours: forest green, sage, cream, white, soft gold, champagne, brown, copper, natural wood
If you love autumn and don’t want traditional Christmas colours this colour scheme is perfect, with its warm muted colours it will bring a glow to any space. This scheme perfectly suits the simple green traditional trees. To keep down the cost of decorating the tree why not introduce some foraged natural items such as twisted branches and dried flower and seed heads. The gnomes, toadstools and birds are perfect for filling any gaps in the tree.
Flower Market; Colours: muted red, soft burgundy, forest green, mid green, soft gold
This is our take on the traditional classic Christmas colours paired with lots of florals such as holly, berry sprays, metallic bunches of twigs and snowberries. This theme will easily incorporate your own treasured family decorations gathered over the years. The classic green trees are the perfect foil for this colour theme. If you are just starting out on your Christmas tree decoration journey and don’t have the budget for a complete set of ornaments just pick one classic colour, such as the gold and pair it with some home-made items then the following year go for another colour. If you buy some of each colour the first year intending to increase your stocks over the following years you may struggle to match the colours in subsequent years. Most Christmas decoration manufacturers alter their colours every year, so it could be several years before your chosen colours appear on the market again.
Pearl Dream; Tree: Frosted. Colours: Off white, pearl, soft gold, pale rose
This colour palette with the soft colours is perfectly suited to these frosted trees. Turn down the lights and you have a calming glow in the corner of the room. If you’re used to the traditional colours of Christmas this is a refreshing change and would perfectly suit a contemporary minimalist decorative scheme. If you want to change the colours at a later date you could still have the gold and pearl then add copper and a dark sage green, instead of the soft rose and off white. Or, pair the gold with deep burgundy and amber.
Regency Affair; Tree: Snowy. Colours: Cream, soft gold, pale rose, muted burgundy
This colour palette is very similar to the Pearl Dream and is perfectly suited to the snowy tree which in this case is a Snowy Yukon Pine pre-lit with soft white globe LEDs. In future years you can swap out the two warm pink colours and inject a shot of dark moss green, amber and copper for a more rustic woodland look. Or, go for the Scandi colours of Arctic blue, birch wood ornaments and natural vegetation as fillers.
Fresh Christmas trees will be available from the Outdoor Plant department from the middle of November. Small potted fresh Christmas trees will be available from the end of October.
