Hayes Garden World Design a Sunflower Seed Packet Schools Competition
Angela Slater
Daughter of a farmer so always used to producing something from the earth, whether it was animals or garden produce. Along with my work at Hayes Garden World I also have a smallholding, mainly breeding rare breed pigs. I also keep a few hens and grow vegetables for my own personal use. I gained a BSc in Conservation and Environmental Land Management. As a result of this I have a keen interest in environmentally friendly gardening.

Sunflower Competition Results

THANK YOU to everyone who entered

Hayes Garden World and Creative Futures would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all who took the time to enter our 2015 Sunflower competition. We sent out almost 35,000 entry forms to 290 schools and received 5,000 entrees back. Schools ranged the length and breadth of the country from Cornwall to Aberdeenshire.

1,472 customers voted at the Hayes store and had a very entertaining time choosing their favourite; with the dinosaur drawn by one little chap putting a smile on customers faces! As well as pictures of sunflowers and gardeners we also had a good selection of UFO’s and superheroes!

Presentation

We will be holding a presentation at Hayes Garden World on the 19th October at 1pm, where we we will be presenting the prizes and also displaying the winning seed packets. Everybody is welcome to come along and show their support and help themselves to a selection of the Sunflower seeds. There are four great varieties available.

We will also have our incredible legacy picture on display which has been generated from the 5000 entries we recieved.

All schools will recieve

All 5000 entries offered something different and exciting to view and Hayes would have loved to have rewarded each and everyones artwork. As a thank you to all children who entered, Hayes will be providing schools with a selection of seeds featuring the winning designs so that they can create a stunning sunflower display in their school grounds next year.

Please download our Legacy Image that has been created featuring all valid entries, see if your children can spot theirs.
