How To Repair Scratches On Natural Rattan And Cane Conservatory Furniture

Buff out scratches on natural rattan and cane with linseed oil

Natural rattan and cane can scratch quite easily and there is not a lot you can do to eradicate the damage.

Boil up some linseed oil (make sure you take care with this as it will inflict painful burns if spilled on the skin) and apply a thin coat to the scratched area. It doesn’t remove the scratch but leaves the furniture looking shiny and new, which hopefully will detract from the scratches.

Clean the furniture before applying the oil with a soft, clean cloth dipped in soap suds; allow to dry before proceeding with the linseed oil treatment.

Let the set dry thoroughly before using.

You may have to apply linseed to the whole of the set to make it look uniform.
