In view of the coronavirus outbreak and advice from the government we fully understand the reluctance of our customers to visit a public space. Here at Hayes Garden World we realise that our customers gardens are their pride and joy, so have implemented temporary measures to ensure our customers can still potter in the garden. There will be staff from each of our departments on hand to help or just to chat if you need any advice.
If you are self-isolating for a lengthy period it is important that you stay mobile, get some fresh air and stay motivated. While the government is advising getting fresh air and exercise please remember to avoid other people and keep the 6' apart rule. There’s nothing better than a garden for lifting the spirits, Monty Don says that it’s the secret to happiness and we all need some of that at the moment. The weather until the end of March is looking to be sunny and dry with some cloud; ideal for sowing seeds, mulching the borders, planting perennials in herbaceous beds and spring bedding in containers.
Now that the children are off school why not teach them to bake, we have everything you need in our Kitchenware Department. Sowing seeds is also a great project for the kids and it’s so easy, you don’t even need a garden. Grow some salad leaves on a sunny windowsill or sow a sunflower seed in a pot. Our Toy Department has plenty of Lego, Woodcraft, jigsaws and much more besides to keep little hands out of mischief!
We have set up a personal shopper service to enable our customers to still be able to acquire their plants, that special present or the feed for the wild birds. Goods from all our departments is available for delivery not just for the garden. Remember all those jobs you were meaning to do but just haven’t had the time? Well now you do have the time and the weather to create that relaxing space where you can enjoy a barbecue with family and friends in summer when all this upset will hopefully be over.
Clear away all the clutter, get the power washer out, check out the barbecue and the furniture, give them a spring clean then all you have to do is make it look inviting with a few pots of colour. The bigger the pot the more impact it has, and what’s more you don’t have to struggle getting it into the car, just give us a call and we will do the rest. If you need a run through of the containers we have available just call the Garden Products Department and they will be able to give you plenty of ideas and take your order.
If you’re a keen barbecuer why not place a container of herbs besides your grill, we have quite a few herbs in stock at the moment and absolutely masses of containers in every colour and size imaginable. The Barbecue Shop team are on hand to answer any queries if you need advice on how to service your grill, are looking for a new grill, need accessories or just don’t know what to cook. If you need inspiration for tasty, easy BBQ dishes we have a huge number on the blog site, including step by step videos from Richard Holden. We also have plenty of spring bedding showing masses of colour, just call our Outdoor Plant department.
If your furniture and barbecue need un upgrade all this seasons furniture is now on the shop floor and on the website; due to the coronavirus outbreak we are experiencing some delay in delivery but we do have limited stock of most furniture sets on the shop floor, with more arriving weekly. We have a wider selection of furniture on the website but some may not be available for immediate delivery, if you call the Internet Customer Services team they will be able to advise what is in stock and what is on a delay.
Now that spring is here and there are masses of daffodils why not bring some into the house, we have vases of all sizes and colour. Don’t have flowers in the garden? We have a floral abundance of silk flowers or scented reed diffusers and candles to bring the smell of spring indoors, again just call our Gift Department and they will talk you through their selection. Need a gift for someone to say thank you for doing your shopping, forgotten a birthday in all the mayhem or just need cheering up? Call our Gift Department and they will be able to help; we can gift wrap and include a card.
Keep the air purified with our special selection of houseplants or brighten up your living room with a cymbidium orchid, they love central heating. If keeping houseplants alive is a bit of a challenge why not try cacti and succulents, they are easy enough even for the most dedicated plant killer! Just call the Indoor Plant Department who will talk you through your options and your plants can be on your doorstep in a couple of days.
Don’t forget your four-legged friend, our Pet Department has new collars and leads, treats and more, just give them a call. Your feathered friends are not forgotten either, we have small packs of seed from ½ kg to 12.5kg bags, peanuts, mealworms, single feeders, multi-feeder stations, houses, nest boxes and lots more. If you have your Beautiful Gardens magazine handy, we have 2 x 50 tubs of fat balls on offer for only £10, normally £9.99 a tub. At his time of year birds need to keep up their fat reserves in order to give their brood the best chance of survival. If you need any bird food or just advice please call the Garden Products Department.
We can take Beautiful Gardens vouchers over the phone so you are not going to miss out on our great offers.
The store is still open for those of you who wish to visit and we have plenty of space for you to keep the recommended 6’ away from each other. Our Four Seasons Restaurant is now closed in accordance with government regulations.
The following perishable goods have now been reduced by 80% and are available from a collection point at the store or via our Personal Shopper service: houseplants, summer flowering bulbs, bedding plants. Please call the store on 015394 33434 for more details.
Delivery is £10 and covers the local area; between Keswick in the north and Kendal in the south. In order to minimise contact between yourself and the delivery driver we are asking you please to designate a delivery area where your goods can be left. Our driver will ring the bell and then leave the goods without waiting for an answer. More or less anything the store sells will be available for delivery except for large and heavy furniture items which require a 2-man delivery team. These items will be available through our website.
