If you have ever enjoyed a break on the lovely Scottish island of Arran then this range of Arran Aromatics, which are new in to Hayes, will most certainly take you back there with their evocative scents and colours. The scents and varied landscapes of the island are the inspiration behind the diverse collection; with the local flora in the form of gorse, heather and the lichens all being represented, as is the white sand and the turquoise sparkling sea.
Arran is a small island, only 56 miles in circumference, so everything is within easy reach, with some really stupendous walking taking in a rich diversity of landscapes from fell, forest, glens and beach featuring outstanding wildlife, flora, geology and history. The view from Goat Fell is absolutely magnificent and the beaches on the Atlantic side of the island can rival any in the Caribbean; so if you’ve never been before it is definitely worth a visit.
Arran aromatics started out as a small family run firm producing a range of soaps over 25 years ago; and have now expanded their range to include candles, reed diffusers, body and bath preparations as well as shaving soap and aftershave balm. They have now evolved to become a globally respected manufacturer of luxury body-care products, with their premises in Brodick also incorporating a visitor experience where you can see the various products being made.
Their preparations draw on centuries of use of essential oils to improve well-being; an ideal antidote to today’s pressurised way of life. Many of the ingredients are sustainably sourced locally from the indigenous flora, resulting in a low level of environmental impact. About 99% of the product is re-cycleable, with the company aiming to re-cycle all the waste by-products from the manufacturing process. Packaging is sourced from sustainably managed forests. All the organic oils used are certified by the Soil Association; no animal products are used, with the exception of honey and beeswax, so the products are suitable for vegetarians. The palm oil used is sourced from companies which subscribe to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) which ensures that the plantations conform to certain environmental and ethical guidelines. Their own spring is the source of the fresh water used in the preparations.
The starting point for any new range starts with the scent, reminiscent of the natural beauty of the island. The shaving soap bowls in the ‘Lochranza’ range are modelled on the lovely tactile beach pebbles and perfumed with the warm scents of patchouli and anise. ‘After the Rain’ is inspired by the scent of an Arran garden after the storm with notes of lime, rose and sandlewood. If you want something a bit more sensuous then ‘Glen Rosa’ is the one to choose; perfumed with fig and ylang-ylang the body-care products are enriched with pro-vitamin B5 which helps keep your skin in good condition.
