Our Hayes employees, have a vast wealth of knowledge, we have several staff with over 50 years experience in each of their fields. Plants, planting and landscaping have been our life for almost 200 years. With over 100 staff across the garden centre, our depth of knowledge is vast. We have one of the largest garden furniture and barbecue departments in the UK with experienced staff available to answer your queries and give advice.

2015, Year of the Sunflower, Schools competition

Hayes Garden World Summer Competition this year focuses on primary schools across the UK. If you are 11 years and under, we want you to design a packet for sunflower seeds. The 1st prize is £1,000, 2nd prize is £750 and the 3rd prize is £500 for your school. The winning designs will be printed and used by Thompson and Morgan for a variety of sunflowers to be sold at Hayes Garden World.

The prize money could be spent on a class trip to a range of attractions, including: Life Science Centre in Newcastle; Natural History Museum, London; Chester Zoo; Eden Project or Camping and Outdoor Activities here in the Lake District, or any other venue you would prefer. There are learning objectives associated with the competition which satisfy some of the national curriculum criteria.

Register to take part

If you enter as an individual your school will get the prize, so the more classmates you persuade to enter, the more chance you have of winning a trip out. If you are entering as a school we will send you the pack out in the mail with the amount of individually numbered entries to equal the number of pupils you wish to enter.

How will the Winners be Selected?

Customers will vote for their favourite from all entries which will be displayed in the store from 27th July and 9th August. Winners will be notified as soon as possible after the voting has closed.
