Environmental Awareness Day - May 13th
At the garden centre we are constantly asked by customers about wildlife gardening, the best products to use and how to go about establishing wildlife habitats in their gardens. With this interest in mind, we decided to include an Environmental Awareness Day into our events programme for 2009, bringing together experts from every aspect of wildlife conservation and sustainable living.

Italian Evening - June 10th
An informative evening with an Italian theme. Whether you want to create a little bit of Italy in your garden or keep a ready supply of fresh herbs to use in the kitchen, there will be advice and inspiration on hand. Our restaurant will also be open for you to sample some sumptuous Italian Food.

"Grow Your Own" - June 19th

Six schools competed against each other for the best planted container. They used recycled containers which were then planted up with either fruit or vegetables. Sue Tasker was here in the afternoon, to judge the containers and present the top three schools with their prizes. In addition each school that entered received a free fruit tree.

Family Funday - July 19th

Coaches were provided from Kendal and Barrow, one from each location. Tickets were £5 but  included a free £5 Hayes Voucher to be spent on the day.

All the major emergency services were here to demonstrate the vital role they play in aiding people when they ring 999.

World's Biggest Coffee Morning - Friday 25 September

We were part of Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning at Hayes Garden World. Many of you joined us and thousands of others in changing the lives of people affected by cancer.

All proceeds of any cake sold between 10.00am - 11.30am was donated to Macmillan along with the raffle money.
